I read that the current Beta projects are only for Windows, but I just received one on my ubuntu linux machine. Is this expected?

Re: Beta unit on linux machine

The beta WU's don't seem to like linux so much. The first one I got errored out and I've currently got two more in progress. From looking at the results - via My Grid results page - for those units from others who've already completed them, it seems they're likely to error out before completion also. sad

Re: Beta unit on linux machine

I am having no luck with the Linux BETA's either. I have managed to get 8. So far 3 have completed all errored out and looking at the other 5 they have perviously errored as well.

Are any of the Linux BETA's completing? I am hoping these are tests for CEP so want to help with debugging. Is there any extra information needed from my systems to help?

Re: Beta unit on linux machine

The WU I got errored out by the time its computation completed.

Here's an extract of some relevant lines from my log file. I hope it helps.

I'm not an expert, but I suppose the error may have something to do with the output file being absent.

Here's the result log of the WU (accessed from the "My Results" page):

Re: Beta unit on linux machine

eduardo,
Many thanks for your detailed report. I think that the techs will appreciate.
The only things that you could add another time are the first message lines when you start a new session: they contain everything needed about your machine. But this time I have the feeling that it is not too important since most or all Linux beta WUs seem to have errored the same.

Cheers. Jean.

I sent a beta Windows unit yesterday and I have a Linux-64 crunching now. (And I'm 2.5 days short of my bronze beta badge. Bwa, ha ha!! biggrin )

When you say "Mac", do you mean Intel Mac, or both (Intel + PPC)?

By the way, I'm very happy that most projects here have PPC apps. Actually, they have stable, well written, and apparently Alti-vec optimized apps. I was surprised and pleased to one day see Fight AIDS running a single work unit across both cores in my G5. Thank you, and kudos.

I've received a linux Beta that's already had 1 No Reply and 4 Errors. The scheduler has now given out 2 more copies. Should I assume the worst and kill it?
