Re: HPF2 Status?

Hi burakreis
I'm not an expert on this, but no-one else has answered you, so I'll try.
There have been no Beta test WUs for HPF2 v6.05 for several weeks now, so I assume that the testing is over. I haven't crunched any ordinary HPF2 WUs for a couple of weeks now, but I see that the HPF2 program file in my BOINC Data directory (folder) is:
wcg_hpf2_rosetta_6.03_windows_intelx86
which means that we are (or were recently) still running v6.03.
Perhaps the HPF2 upgrade has been put on hold because the WCG techs are very busy working on the Upcoming Project Application .

Re: HPF2 Status?

It's a low priority for two reasons: first, the overall error rate is low. Second, on the computers that are impacted by this, nearly all the failures happen quickly, almost as soon as the work starts.

This means that the impact for contributors is very small.

I ran HPF2 myself on an affected machine for a while. While the errors were annoying, it had a negligible effect on output.

Still, the techs will solve it if they can.

Re: HPF2 Status?

6.04 and 6.05 did not resolve the issues sought to be fixed, so WCG stayed on 6.03. Looking at production, it does not seem to be a very serious issue.

Job fails are measured all the time and that sets the work priority to a degree.
