Jean, I see Zigfried now asking about the number of cores, not working on his installation so I guess he succeeded without reporting back.

Sekerob, i have 5 computeres running.
----------------------------------------Yesterday i have started a new core 2 quad but it is only running 1 CPU instead of 4. Regarding JmBoullier questions, Both directoreies are not phisically the same and they are not subfolders BOINC is trying to be installed on c:\program files\BOINC and data files on c:\documents and settings\BOINC\data When i got the 6.2.28 the 5.10.45 was running and when i started te process, the old version was automaticaly removed and then, the installation process was interrupted by, i dont now why, and now i have none of them. I tried to unsintall it, tried to run CClener and clean the registry, the i ran regedit and find any occurance of World Community Grid and BOINC and removed it. ![]() ![]() |

Thank you for your feedback. I am glad that you could finally re-install 5.10.45.
----------------------------------------However that leaves us with the frustration that you could not install 6.2.28 and we still don't know what could be wrong. Your directories seem to be OK, so what? Maybe another case similar to yours will bring us an answer... Thanks again for your efforts. Jean. |

What are the benefits of the new version? I am still running 5.10.45, and am weary of upgrading to the new version. I would like to wait, until the bugs are worked out, to upgrade. But, if the new version crunches the WU's more efficiently, I will upgrade now. Basically, is it safe to upgrade now, and is it necessary?

Don't replace what's not broken. The summary is in the Member News Forum.
----------------------------------------The only main interface progress I see is the multi job/project selection and applying changes rather than line by line.

Yes, I read that. I guess I need to be more specific. I am using Vista and I saw this in the member news forum post: There are several changes to improve the experience of running the software on Microsoft Vista. So, what are those changes and are they important? |

Did you do a service install? People who didn't had trouble with Windows Defender blocking BOINC at startup (because BOINC was so badly designed that it required admin rights to run).
If you did the service install then you're fine. |

So far, It is running just fine. one change I did notice, is that boinc, after the 2 minute delay, starts up on its own. Previously, Vista would block this program and I would have to start manually at boot up. I will give it a day before I upgrade the other Vista computer (just in case). |
