I've known in my gutt since the P4 with HT there wasn't too much good to be achieved from pretending like you had more cores then you really did. Threads and software execution tend to get a little screwy with that level of complexity. The best they can do is to ensure HT can be disabled through MS Windows or the BIOS at least. It seems like Intel occasionally takes 3 steps forward and 1 step back by fumbling something up that otherwise could have been great. I don't believe in "getting something free for nothing" type concepts, as you either have the capability and technology or you don't is the way I see it. It's a pseudo 8 core processor and in reality it's only a quad core. Perhaps, I'm just not educated enough on the issue?

Intel Core i7 benchmarks: . . .in 3DMark06 the 920 finished ever-so-slightly behind the Core 2 Extreme QX9770's 4,922 marks with 4,818 while the 940 and the 965 both opened a can of you-know-what at 5,282 and 5,716 respectively. More . . . ![]() |
