Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

Seems not always to be sequential:

Not strictly sequential. We always have a group of job batches running in parallel.

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

For information, the new 9-hours units have finally started to be distributed.
Currently I have 2 R00200 WUs which are being crunched, and 2 R00201 waiting.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

Curious, that's almost 5 days after I got one (see my previous post). Maybe still rarities and from looking at the performance graph, the average daily run time has barely moved up to 8.021 hours, confirming this.

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

Maybe yours was one of those "scout WUs" that the techs said they will distribute now for "validating" new batches?

My P4 is crunching two Rice WUs at once since the beginning of the month (for a test on the effect of HT on a processor's throughput) and, except for a few repair jobs, it has received more or less all batch numbers in sequence.

Regarding the lack of effect on your graphs my first two have been reported 8 minutes ago, so I am not really surprised. smile

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

"Scout WUs" for a determined 8 or 9 hour fixed run time job? wink

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

Since the way to force a constant time for every processor is a bit twisted (if I remember well) it's never a bad precaution to check that the change of parameters has the effects (duration and estimated time) that you wish.
Never forget: Murphy is watching you! smile

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

Maybe I read the knreed message incorrect, the "pre-distro" for the purpose to discover if of a new experiment of running along the "non-deterministic" line like FAAH & HPF2 were cut to proper size so they would not turn into another series of 24-48 hour monsters.

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

From looking through yesterdays quad throughput only listing R002xx jobs, appears like the 8 hour versions are coming out of circulation rapidly. Average runtime now 8.13 hours. (chart in previous post above)

[added: good opportunity to see how quickly the "average time per task curve", light blue, will flat-line to 9.01 hours. Week, 10 days?]

Re: Work unit lengths extended to 9 hours

looks like the 8 hour versions are coming out of circulation rapidly.

With each batch number being distributed over one or two days maximum it's sure that the transition should be fast.

Regarding the graph a Ctrl+F5 is recommended to force its refreshment if no change is visible.

Cheers. Jean.
