Hello,
when I view the status of my workunits, I see the lines: The large number of copies sent out for this workunit is due to the unique nature of this project. We encourage you to read the FAQs about this project for more information. But I can't find any explanation in the FAQ about the fact, or is this http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/projects_sh...RiceFaq.do?shortName=rice the wrong FAQ I'm looking? Or can you explain me those high numbers? Suppose you would run this project on a supercomputer then you would need 19 times less calculation and this saving enviroment. Can you also explain me: How is ensured that all desired proteins are computed while running constantly 8 hours on a machine? Suppose you had a computer which is 1000 times faster than average computers. Would this computer have nothing to do, let's say, after 5 hours, because the workunit has done all its calculations it came with? Thanks for your explanations. |

Hi,
----------------------------------------Did you look in the Start Here forum? Here's a link: http://worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=6105#165595 cheers PS and the system knows which WU copy computes what seeds, so there is no duplication. The DB tracks these seeds and loads any missed into the next batch. Way too complicated for me ![]()

Thank you for your fast answer.
Did I understand correct, that each of the 19 returned results contain different, unique data? |

So when there is no fixed, desired result how can that be scientific? As far as I understand there is a bit coincidence in the results that are produced.

The object is to get ~120,000. See this discussion:
----------------------------------------http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=21181#177818 As said, the seeds are tracked. If you look in the result log you can see the number of each.
