Sorry, I forgot the less obvious case where the log flags section is empty. In that case you must first break the compact log flags empty tag. Your file must look like this
----------------------------------------<cc_config> Cheers. Jean. |

What I'll do is keep a copy of the current config file, then
modify it as you indicate above. I'll wait for the current work unit to finish, then let an FAAH unit download, and I'll see what happens. Thanks! |

Tom, it is always a good precaution to keep a copy of a file before modifying it.
----------------------------------------Once you have done it you can begin making the changes when you like because the new file will not be used by Boinc either until you ask Boinc to read it again or until Boinc restarts. Cheers. Jean. |

hi, 2 days and 20 hours implies a machine with either little power or ram. FAAH does require the occasional few hundred mb. Have you allowed enough space for the swap file? We recommend 2gb, it's not reserved, but allows the task to occasionally take 400mb when need be. And, the more ram you allow BOINC to use (when the system is idle), the faster the job will run as it reduces disk i/o. ttyl How do you increase the swap file size for Vista SP1? I looked up the help page for virtual memory on my machine, tried to increase the virtual memory size to 7 GB, rebooted, and saw no sign that the resulting virtual memory was much more than 2 GB. I have 2 GB RAM on my machine, and my motherboard won't allow installing more. I've been looking for solutions to recent problems that sometimes slow down my browser and email/newsreader programs a lot. |

Did you change the initial size or the maximum size?
Usually it is safer to leave the size managed by the system. Honestly, I do not see any benefit in manually increasing your virtual memory. If Windows isn't increasing it automatically, then increasing it manually will make no difference at all. The only reason for a fixed size pagefile is to avoid pagefile fragmentation. |

I increased both of them, partly because I saw a recommended value greater than the previous size.
----------------------------------------The 7 GB was the new maximum; the new minimum was the recommended value, about 2.8 GB. [Edit 1 times, last edit by robertmiles at Nov 10, 2008 1:44:45 PM] |
