I am already a United Devises member.
Why should I join the WCG? Why was WCG setup if it's just the same as UD? Can I import my profiled from UD? |

Same here, why aren't they integrated into one big project with different sub-projects to choose from? Like the one with smallpox and the cancer research.
I personally think it's better to have one big project with different sub-projects to choose from, than different projects you might forget after a while. Or in the WGC's case, the UD cancer agent which is uninstalled and which I have been working on with all my spare cpu cycles. Also, with BOINC (Seti@Home, etc.) you can give priority to different projects. Is this something for the future? |

I would imagine that some results for projects (like the Human Proteome project) all end up in the same place anyway, so if you've already joined one, then there isn't much sense in joining the other.

I am already a United Devises member. Why should I join the WCG? Why was WCG setup if it's just the same as UD? Can I import my profiled from UD? Currently, there's not much difference. We use a slightly modified version of the UD client and if you are already a UD member, then you have the option of running the exact same project using their client. The primary difference is in the projects that will be run on the two grids. The World Community Grid will be hosting several projects a year, selected from various applicants by an Advisory Board. After this initial project, future projects that appear on the World Community Grid will ONLY run on the World Community Grid and will not be available to United Devices members. - Rick Alther World Community Grid Application Developer

Hi
Is there any way of transferring my profile information (and points!) from my United Devices (GRID.ORG) profile. You've said the UD client is very similar. Neil |

It appears there are more projects available at grid.org than with the WCG. Are there going to be more projects available on WCG in the near future and will we be able to choose which projects we want to run?

When I installed the WCG agent my UD agent was uninstalled. Why was this? Thanks. Tom, St. Paul, MN.

When I installed the WCG agent my UD agent was uninstalled. Why was this? Thanks. Tom, St. Paul, MN. grid.org and worldcommunitygrid.org both use United Devices Grid MP software. Becuase they use the same platform, only one instance of the client (also referred to as the agent) can be running at one time. |
