Windows 98 Systems

I understand that W98 is no longer supported but the FAQ says that those systems can still run WCG for the next year. Realizing that I have one W98 system, will the new projects that come online, which are not going to be certified for W98, automatically skip delivering WU to the W98 computers or will I have to change the profile for that computer to skip the new projects?

Re: Windows 98 Systems

The scheduler does not distinguish between different versions of Windows.

I strongly recommend replacing Windows 98, either with a newer Windows version, or, if you can't justify the cost or the computer is too slow, with Linux. Windows XP will run fine on any computer bought in the last 8 years. If your computer is older than that, then it is questionable whether it makes an energy efficient contribution to WCG.

Re: Windows 98 Systems

Thanks. I'll actually de-register this system from the grid and retire it when I get access to it next.
