I downloaded the new 6.2.19 bionic and I am now getting errors in my "status results". When I checked my completed projects the files for "Nutitious Rice for the World" has the word "ERROR" next to it. I never had this problem until I down loaded 6.2.19 for Windows Vista 64 bit Operating System.
What is causing this? Bob_F |

Hello Bob_F,
I don't know what is causing it. If a reboot does not solve your problem, then you might experiment with BOINC 5.10.45 to see if the errors stil continue. Lawrence |

Bob_F,
----------------------------------------It seems that the answer is in your question: if you have a new problem with Boinc 6.2.19 and Rice WUs which are usually very "quiet" I would say that you have discovered a new problem with one more not-so-recommendable release of the 6.2.xx series. This is one more explanation of the fact that WCG is still recommending version 5.10.45 and nothing higher. Cheers. Jean. |

6.2 and Vista.... yuk.... through testing the many BOINC point releases on that platform and the code-arounds that the WCG programmers already applied when converting to this Client version graphics, now another one for HPF2 due fails on Vista, this combo has become highly suspicious, in my eyes. The randomness of the fails drives one batty.
----------------------------------------I'm testing 6.2.19 on XP-C2D this moment and have a RICE near completion so know shortly what's up if it again is a Vista specificity. Does not say what version was installed, but given it's Vista 64 I guess it was the 64 bit client. Will tell later "Is it Save?", (but not recommended yet) for XP

So Far HPF2 6.03 and RICE 6.17 validate with BOINC 6.2.19 under WinXP on C2D. HCCs are now running.

So Far HPF2 6.03 and RICE 6.17 validate with BOINC 6.2.19 under WinXP on C2D. HCCs are now running. So 2 out of 5 projects on 1 OS are ok. We're a long way to go yet on proving 6.x works |

Yes, I am running a 64 bit Vista not 32 bit Vista. Will Bionic 5.10.45 be okay to run on Vista 64 bit? I guess I could try it and see what happens.
I had far less problems before the BONIC upgrade. Thanks for your feedback. Bob_F |

Hello Bob_F,
Yes, 32-bit clients run on 64-bit systems. The only problem is that installs do not work in reverse, automatically downgrading from BOINC 6 to BOINC 5. The safest thing (my opinion) is to uninstall BOINC 6, then install BOINC 5.10.45 to the selected directory, as explained in Start Here. Lawrence |

When I came home around 7:00 pm from work today I checked my "results status" and I had no errors for the files that were completed today.
Some background information: When I finished downloading 6.2.19, I tried to run BIONIC and it gave me the following message, "This computer is not attached to any projects." So, I clicked on "Tools" and I choose "Attach to project..." and then I clicked on "World Community Grid" as my project and it appeared to be working okay but I lost my jobs that my computer was "crunching out" at the time that I decided to upgrade to 6.2.19 and I wonder if that may have caused problems with "error" files in my "result status"? Well, I have decided to run 6.2.19 for a few days and see what happens. My accumulated points are correct and everything seems okay TODAY but...time will tell. If errors start to occur again, then I'll go back to the old revision 5.10.45 and stay at that revision for a while. Again, I want to thank you all for your kind help. Bob_F |

So Far HPF2 6.03 and RICE 6.17 validate with BOINC 6.2.19 under WinXP on C2D. HCCs are now running. Add HCC 6.06 and FAAH 6.06 on XP-C2D all going valid so we can reasonably assume it's the Vista platform continuing to act up. Bob_F, there is an occasionally experienced bug where somehow the 6.2 install looses project information (though it's still on disk). Reinstalling frequently recovers the files. I've experienced this myself when upgrading from one to the next 6.2 release.
