Not sure where best to post this so I thought I'd do it here!
R00122_ 7fd070fc2146bbb7bf7981cb5c27a8d2_ 03_ 006_ 16-- I had to abort the above work unit yetserday as it had run for a while (five minutes?) and then hung. The task manager showed it as using zero resources but BoincMgr showed it as running and thus stopped another task from picking up the spare processor power. It's not a big problem for me as I don't think it was hung for more than an hour before I found it; but I thought I should let someone know why it was aborted. (Running WinXP Pro on a PentD with Boinc 6.2.18 for what it's worth!) |

Hello MacDitch,
Are you sure that you were not running into a Preferences problem? BOINC can start suspending threads when it runs into memory limits set in Preferences. Lawrence |

I'm fairly certain this wasn't the case.
Boinc did not actually suspend anything - it thought WCG was running - and there were no messages showing a problem with memory or anything else. I wouldn't expect there to be either as this setup has been running fine for years. I'm currently trying to clear a backlog of work from elsewhere, but I'll try running some more NRfW work when that's done and see what happens. |

Another abort - but more info this time!
This work unit stopped several times (first at 49.144% and final at ~52%) for no apparent reason. Each time it did I had to stop and restart the BOINC program to get it running again (a suspend/resume did nothing), I suspect becasue it needed to be dumped from memory to recover. When looking at the graphics during a hang, each case showed the same thing, the 'completion of next element' bar was just short of fully coloured and the number showed 100%. I could have completed the unit by exiting and restarting BOINC every time but I don't want to sit here for 4 hours watching it - sorry! Anyway, hope this means something to the project team. |

Hi everybody !
----------------------------------------one of my hosts experienced an unusual problem during the last days. During the computation of the WU "R00127_1ecdb3714104d11d92f9637d8fe2d035_ 02_ 18--" boinc stopped after performing a CPU benchmark. All the WUs stayed on "stopped" (unfortunately I was on business trip and I was not able to access to the host during this time ). I try to restart the task but the remaining time incremented instead to decrease and after one hour I decided to reboot the system. After the reboot, the WU sticked again (at around 52% completion) without any hope for improvement. After again one hour, I decided to abort the WU. I did not modify the configuration (neither locally not remotely) and the host is running Win2K and boinc 5.10.45 since many months (probably 6). I do not expect any specific feedback about this very particular and untypical issue. I wish only to confirm that some unexpected events could happen without particular failure from the user. Have a nice week-end, Yves |
