Thread: Why has my WU a shorter report deadline? |

Among the initial 19 replications was one error (nr 17) and I got the replication of that WU (now nr 19). All the other WU's have a normal deadline of 12 days. But my resend WU of that error from someone else has got a report deadline from 2 days and about 10 hours.

----------------------------------------Although you do not say it explicitly I think that you do not find normal, or at least you find it strange that a rush job has to be returned several days before the normal jobs of the same WU. Everybody agrees, including the tech people. However, the way it has been designed the routine which computes the deadline of rush jobs is not able to know the normal deadlines at a reasonable cost for database accesses. So until this part of the code can ever be redesigned to make it easier and/or simpler this strange situation will not change. Anyway, beside the apparently unfair aspect of this situation, this is not a big problem since devices which get these rush jobs are returning all jobs very fast, so they don't have problems with the deadlines of possibly interrupted jobs. Hello Sekerob and Jean,
So it's clearly in the design of the software. Jean exactly feels: I was not worrying, but just wondering why a rush job should return (much) quicker than the original deadline. Talking about redesign: If you ever change the software in this part, perhaps it is a good idea to put the deadline in seconds in the WU-name, so when an error returns you can extract the original deadline without accessing the DB. Just another question concerning Sekerob FAQ: "The most recent 15 or so results checked must have been determined to be valid." This 15 results should they be all from the same WCG-project for what the rush WU is needed or all WCG-projects together? Both thanks for the answers (in advance). You CA's are doing a great job.  For the answer on this last question I will not thank again, because I don't want to increase the number of posts. I don't need to be an 'Advanced Cruncher' very soon  |

CP, it's 15 overall. Have amended FAQ to read:
----------------------------------------" Also added a footnote for those that wonder about the deadlines not matching the original batch due date. I had one rush job and did not notice until this morning that BBG has autobooted my machine, the wifi not starting until I log in (elected safety). Had I not looked, would the repair job have been late too.  ciao
