Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

To the person who wanted to get an Intel i7:

So, the first releases in 2 months from the intel side will be the following :

1. Intel Core i7 Extreme Edition i7-965(3.2GHz,8MB L3, LGA1366, Product Code BX80601965 & QPI 6.4GT/sec) Estimated Price in EU : ~1000€

2. Intel Core i7-940(2.93GHz,8MB L3, LGA1366, Product Code BX80601940 & QPI 4.8GT/sec) Estimated Price in EU : ~510€

3. Intel Core i7-920 (2.66GHz,8MB L3, LGA1366, Product Code BX80601920 & QPI 4.8GT/sec) Estimated Price in EU : ~260€

Pretty pricey if you ask me.

From the looks of those prices, we are gonna be burning up Core2 Quads for a while longer.

Euro approx ~$1.41 ... that would be a good currency to buy it in. laughing biggrin laughing In any currency, that is a rather steep price for a chip.

Welcome back DM! Just got word my quad is being delivered Thursday. Now to see when my sons will be available to help me hook it up (can't do the lifting, etc.). Then I get to find out how I fare on Vista licensing -- lol. Funny -- same day as my RC helicopter is to be delivered!

Hey Dave! I'm sure yours will be just fine. I think mine was "made on a Monday" and someone took an extra coffee break. biggrin The machine is performing fine ... just under the HP's but it runs considerably cooler than the HP's. It was easy to unplug that irritating light too. laughing

Well, min shipped Friday -- wonder if IBP is plagued with payday lunch problems -- lol. Yeah, it will be lights out on mine as well. Don't want to try to sleep in a room with a blue beacon lit and it will be in my bedroom.

The spec's call for a 450W power supply. This PC has a 420W. ???

I think I meet all the other minimum requirements. Suggestions?

Oh 420W..... Hm.. I don't know if running PS3Grid on a video card can be sustained by your power supply. You'd need a minimum of at least 500W. If your PSU burns out on you, it leaves your other components at risk.

You could look into a 8800GT.. but I don't know if that PSU is able to handle a Q6600 and a 8800GT on full load.

OK, thanks. Was worth a try. I'm not going to do a power supply too.

Hehe. You can get a 8800GT and try it. That's the best video card I'd get for that kind of PSU. It'll run you $110 at Newegg.
