Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Brrr -- wish I could send some of this weather to those of you with problems running your crunch farms because of heat! It is 56.5 degrees here this morning with still a couple of hours of darkness yet! Cold enough that I'm gonna climb back in bed and hibernate a bit longer.

I wish I had your cool and Gerald's wet. It didn't cool off as much last night ... to be 103F today. It just goes on and on.

coffee

that doesn't sound quite right.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

The CPDN WU is down to only 1635.46 hours to go. laughing biggrin laughing Will be interested in the BOINC credits for that one. pig

coffee

Actually, you're already getting credit for it. biggrin They use a "trickle-up" message to get your progress on a WU and give you credit for that. There must be something going around. TANPAKU crashed back around middle of last month. They are still DOA but they at least have a generic message on the website (it's the whole website too). Spinhenge was hosed. Cosmology is semi-whacked while they overhaul the project/site (finally an end to the "beta"???). Maybe one of these years, Proteins will finally have some work. Academia-run projects are certainly different. devilish wink

Edit: Oh and next time someone wants to complain about the PV jail here, I still have a Lattice WU waiting to validate that I finished six weeks ago.

I have an Einstein WU's that is almost that old. Lattice and Proteins are still out of work but SIMAP put out some work a couple of days ago. I think Hydrogen is gone forever. Jack is France next week at the BOINC conference (begging for money I think wink ) I just notice last night that CPDN appeared in my stat's and I should get some Milky Way today. I like those single quorum projects. biggrin I have not run Cosmology ... every time I go there they are either out of work or the server(s) is down. I gave up on Lattice.

Breakfast time .... coffee

I've had Einstein take a bit of time to validate but never real bad. The thing with the Lattice WU is that it's one of their monster GARLIs. Keep getting No Reply back from the needed second result. They do have WUs but it isn't every day. Set your profile there to accept the two non-GARLI type WUs and you'll get some. They tend to be pretty fast ones too. Cosmology is up again. They are running test WUs on the new science app along with regular work. Proteins was supposedly going to have some new work this month. Will see about that. Once the quad is up and running, I'll need to look at the project distribution. Toying with the idea of leaving the quad WCG only along with one C2D and then splitting the other C2D evenly among all of the projects. QMC seems to be the place to crunch if you want to max your credits over a given amount of time. As for CPDN, the almost 16K credits is only for about a half dozen WUs, three of which are still in process. 300 hours seems to be the typical projected time on a 2.2GHz CPU.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Speaking of the quad, it's supposed to be here late Tuesday (UPS always hits us near the end of the day). Anyone got any pointers on setting VISTA so it doesn't "idiot-light" message me every keystroke? I don't want to set it wide open but would like to run the apps I load on it without being pestered. Perhaps I should get that Dummies book I saw the other day......

You mean the UAC permissions?

indeed

Start -> Control Panel -> (Classic view) User Accounts -> Turn User Account Control on or off -> Uncheck it

Thanks, bit of a 2X12 approach but I may do that initially until I learn more. If it's more like telling a firewall what's okay and what's not, may not be too bad.

It does seem like things here along the east coast are going to take a turn for the cooler late next week. Maybe you'll see the same too. I remember in Texas that it was usually sometime in the first half to middle of September when the summer heat broke and things cooled off.

From my farm the top credit projects are:

Milkyway - 175%- 300% of claimed credits (on the sole surviving P4 no less biggrin )
QMC - 175% of claimed credits
POEM, Rosetta - 150% of claimed credits

I don't know about CPDN yet ... but I'm into it for a 100 hours now. laughing biggrin

I sure hope the new quad gets here Monday. smile
