I have returned 2 DDDT results over 10 minutes ago, but they are both still pending validation. some other BOINC DC project the validator is usually running all the time and they do not spend anytime pending......how long does the WCG one take?

Some DDDT have 2 copies sent, how many do yours have?

Both have now been validated but I would still like an answer to the original question please.

The validators run continuously. However, WCG is a large (large) project. This means that at times the validation queue may be fairly long.
In other words: it varies. |

The system cannot run so fast that everything gets updated immediately. With over 400,000 members and over 1,000,000 machines I don't exepct the system to deal with my WU until after the next twice a day update. It's like we need to be patient.

Nice, that you are so patient, but's normally, that's not necessary. The validator is runing continously, so in general, the validation of a WU takes not longer than 1 to 2 minutes... But sometimes this service seems to hang, or has a large amount to validate (i.e. if a large grid, like from a university or data processing centre connects after a network outage). I have never noticed, that the validation on my WU's took more than 5 minutes, even when I uploaded 20 to 30 results from my Notebook after a business trip. I think, there is a problem, when the validation takes longer than 1 hour... which hasn't happened here... |

It's to me a touch silly if we're sitting here hitting update buttons, only achieving for the servers to be getting more hits than they need. I've yet to see WCG loose a job turned in by a member and not getting processed, eventually. To get an idea below a link to how the system basic structure looks, with WCG having an Apache sitting in as extra. From there links go explanations of each of the daemon functions.

My point about being patient is that the system has 1 million computers to manage and we should not expect that we get instantaneous response when we demand it. In 2 months I have not had a hung job or had a WU lost.
