Stuck workunit?

I have received (and finished) a copy of workunit R00098_12d12adde567810d378ea3c268d3b0f9_03. I (and 8 other people) received copies of this workunit on 2008-08-25. Ten of the other copies for this task are stuck in "Waiting to be sent" state. I've received other workunits for this project since that have had all 19 replications sent out without any problems. Obviously this particular one will be stuck in "Pending Validation" status until at least one more copy gets sent out (if it ever does).

Re: Stuck workunit?

gretchch,

that is correct behavior in order to optimize the work send out in a quorum. Did not know about this until someone asked the same a few days ago.

Re: Stuck workunit?

So just to see if I have this understood. WU

R00106_ 9cd853f7f1625d9208a40d9168684555_ 03_ 17--

has 9 WU in Pending Validation and 10 WU Waiting to be sent. There must be some task running in the background that is validating the 9 WU to evaluate the results. At some point that 'Validator' will decide what to do next, which can include modify one or more of the 10 WU before it sends one or more of them out.

What makes it look weird is that the last of the 9 WU was returned over 6 hours ago yet no new WU has been sent yet. That "long time span" is what is causing us to question whether the Task is stuck.

confused Re: Stuck workunit?

I've asked the techs to elaborate on this about a week ago sad . I've had the same on one. I did observe that it is not always as many do seem to go out with a short time, a pause of a few hours and the rest being pumped out.

Calling Techs Calling Techs.

thanks

Re: Stuck workunit?

I have finished this work unit.
10 replications have been sent out with 9 returned.
I thought that the purpose of validating on 10 returns was to speed up the granting of points.
This type of work unit takes a very long time to validate.
Will they be looking at changing this in newer work units.

Re: Stuck workunit?

No, it was already reduced from 14 to 10 for this reason, but 10 is the base and the points wont be running away. I very rarely see anything on Rice or HPF2 sit over 3-4 days in Pending Validation, whereas I had it regularly with FAAH and DDDT and HCC that a week taking to get quorum.
