Hi,
Electricity is not cheap here. The extra heat that the crunching of work units gives, is in het summer a real wast of energy. Is there a add-on or a preference setting that will allow to download new workunits only if the temperature is lower than 20 degrees Celsius. I would really like it if boinc checks once a day through the internet what temperature it is in my neighbourhood and if it is too hot not allowing any new work units. This automatic feature would be really need. I hope you understand what I am writing. |

Not aware. There is no setting in BOINC either, but there is some talk of something like that for into the future to respond to CPU temps.
----------------------------------------I use ThreadMaster GUI and since different jobs generate different heat, throttle e.g. HPF2 to 60% and DDDT/FAAH to 80% and RICE & HCC on 90% which just about stops the fans from kicking in. You could set it to any %. Lower %, Lower E-use. The WCG standard profile that uses the BOINC throttle sets it to 60% (Use No More than X % of Processor Time), designed purely as a thermal control, but it's a fixed value.
