Huh...I'm definitely willing to try this, since I've been having some issues with the power management anyway (occasionally losing sound and wireless when returning to the computer after some time away -- requiring a reboot to get it back).
----------------------------------------It will take some time to give you results though, since I turned off this project in my profile on Thursday (no point in continuing to return invalid results) and I don't have any currently in my pipeline. I've removed the Thinkpad power management and rebooted, I'll turn this project back on in my profile, and let you know how it goes once I've finished a few WU's (successfully or unsuccessfully). Hello gretchch,
Back in 2006, I searched Google for problems with the Lenovo software placed on Thinkpads. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=1804#81379 There may be more on the Internet now. Lawrence |

Well, that seems to have done it...I have 5 valid results from my Thinkpad since removing the Thinkpad power management! Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I was waiting for a couple of "Pending Validation" WU's to finish.

I am also noticing several "invalid" work units when I review my recent results. lw863_ 00078_ 12-- Kevins-PC Invalid 08/28/2008 05:04:47 08/29/2008 02:50:56 4.30 73.8 / 39.6 lw729_ 00006_ 8-- Kevins-PC Invalid 08/25/2008 13:06:59 08/26/2008 04:43:30 4.59 78.8 / 43.3 lw665_ 00057_ 13-- Kevins-PC Invalid 08/24/2008 09:31:23 08/25/2008 05:40:23 6.15 105.7 / 58.2 lv977_ 00002_ 10-- Kevins-PC Invalid 08/09/2008 13:31:36 08/21/2008 05:01:41 4.40 68.8 / 40.2 lv959_ 00030_ 15-- Kevins-PC Invalid 08/09/2008 01:51:44 08/20/2008 20:00:18 4.90 76.6 / 45.8 I also have valid results and my PC is a Dell xps 410 dual core intel running BOINC 5.10.30... Any suggestions - I wont tolerate invalid work units much longer. |

When you look at the detail of each of these invalid WUs (by clicking on their name from the Results Status page) are there other invalid results or are you alone among valid ones?
----------------------------------------If there are several invalid results per quorum we might have a problem with those WUs, otherwise I am afraid the problem could be on your side. And by the way (after re-reading previous posts) is your machine a laptop with power management? Please give us some feedback. Jean. |

kschneider,
----------------------------------------Hitting the "invalid" link in the Status column of the Result might actually reveal some error. For comparison, all my HPF2 logs on a test client look like this <core_client_version>6.2.18</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <stderr_txt> Failed to get VersionInfo size: 2 </stderr_txt> ]]> The "Failed.... " is a standard benign message and there are others, but we won't know until you post some detail. ciao
