Re: Many Invalid results lately

Huh...I'm definitely willing to try this, since I've been having some issues with the power management anyway (occasionally losing sound and wireless when returning to the computer after some time away -- requiring a reboot to get it back).

It will take some time to give you results though, since I turned off this project in my profile on Thursday (no point in continuing to return invalid results) and I don't have any currently in my pipeline.

I've removed the Thinkpad power management and rebooted, I'll turn this project back on in my profile, and let you know how it goes once I've finished a few WU's (successfully or unsuccessfully).

Re: Many Invalid results lately

Hello gretchch,
Back in 2006, I searched Google for problems with the Lenovo software placed on Thinkpads.

There may be more on the Internet now.

Re: Many Invalid results lately

Well, that seems to have done it...I have 5 valid results from my Thinkpad since removing the Thinkpad power management! Sorry it took me so long to reply, but I was waiting for a couple of "Pending Validation" WU's to finish.

Re: Many Invalid results lately

sad
I am also noticing several "invalid" work units when I review my recent results.
lw863_ 00078_ 12-- Kevins-PC Invalid 08/28/2008 05:04:47 08/29/2008 02:50:56 4.30 73.8 / 39.6

I also have valid results and my PC is a Dell xps 410 dual core intel running BOINC 5.10.30...
Any suggestions - I wont tolerate invalid work units much longer.

Re: Many Invalid results lately

When you look at the detail of each of these invalid WUs (by clicking on their name from the Results Status page) are there other invalid results or are you alone among valid ones?

If there are several invalid results per quorum we might have a problem with those WUs, otherwise I am afraid the problem could be on your side.

And by the way (after re-reading previous posts) is your machine a laptop with power management?

Please give us some feedback. Jean.

Re: Many Invalid results lately

kschneider,

Hitting the "invalid" link in the Status column of the Result might actually reveal some error.

For comparison, all my HPF2 logs on a test client look like this
<core_client_version>6.2.18</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<stderr_txt>
Failed to get VersionInfo size: 2

</stderr_txt>
]]>

The "Failed.... " is a standard benign message and there are others, but we won't know until you post some detail.

ciao
