Since Aug 15 I have started getting many invalid results for this project. It appears that when I resume from suspend mode on my laptop, I get the following type of error:
8/22/2008 7:45:16 AM|World Community Grid|Task lw536_00011_17 exited with a DLL initialization error. 8/22/2008 7:45:16 AM|World Community Grid|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reboot your computer. 8/22/2008 7:45:17 AM|World Community Grid|Restarting task lw536_00011_17 using hpf2 version 518 and then when the task completes, it's marked "Invalid". The one given in the the message above is currently 92% complete, and I expect that when it does complete it will also be marked invalid. |

"It appears that when I resume from suspend mode on my laptop" is the key indicator.
----------------------------------------Does it happen when you actually shut down your computer and restart or only when hibernating? Try suspending BOINC before and alternate the option "Leave application in Memory while suspended". The DLL error is a typical sign of some system instability though.

It looks like it's only when resuming from suspend, since the message just shows up out of "nowhere" in the log in the morning when I open the laptop -- there's no "restarting task" message before it like you get when coming back up from a reboot.
The odd thing is that I have not changed my behavior at all since I started running BOINC on this laptop, but this problem only started happening a couple of weeks ago. Before that, I was running fine with no Invalid results at all. |

Now here's an "interesting" fact - I just checked my list of Microsoft updates, and on the very day that I started getting these invalid results, a bunch of MS fixes were installed on my computer:
KB951066, KB950974, KB946648, KB952287, KB952954, KB953839, KB951072-v2 KB950974 and KB952954 look the most "interesting" Seems very coincidental |

8/22/2008 7:45:16 AM|World Community Grid|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reboot your computer. Simply to make sure, since you have started to see these messages and these invalid WUs have you rebooted at least once as suggested? Cheers. Jean. |

Well, it's a Lenovo Thinkpad
, but yes. Interestingly, this latest task that I referenced in my post above finished and came back "Valid", the first one that has been valid on this laptop in 2 weeks. |

Oh, and I have definitely rebooted since I started getting this message. Didn't seem to make much difference.

The Thinkpad power management software has been identified as a possible culprit.
You could try removing it, and using the Windows default power management. Please let us know what happens if you try this. Thank you. |
