I have a computer that only runs a couple of hours a day. On it, I have a problem of work units having sufficient time to run and report before they expire. Part of that problem is that BOINC always wants to have at least one work unit in the queue, in addition to the one it's working on. That extra unit or two sits there for days -- eating up expiration time -- waiting for its chance to be handled and reported by the agent.
In my Preferences, I've tried setting my Additional Work Buffer to zero, but it still downloads new units days ahead of time. What else can I do. I wouldn't even mind having to take charge manually of this process if need be. But I just hate having my little computing time wasted because it's aged too much in queue. Thanks for helping. |

Wilhelm, change your website profile or local prefs to "connect every...X days value" to 0.0010. That will cause work to be fetched only minutes before completing the current unit. That is of course with the cache/additional buffer value set to zero.
----------------------------------------Let us know. PS, when entering values in BOINC always use the point. Even if comma's are set in the local OS as decimal this has caused issues in past.
