Re: Changing reporting deadlines

Thank you, Mark. I think there was quite a bit of difficulty getting the very largest of the work units completed, so your assistance is greatly valued.

As for clocking hyperthreaded CPUs - it's not trivial, particularly with normal CPU monitors basically lying to you. I think Lawrence did some comparisons a year or two back. Hyperthreading does normally get more done than a single process, but it's nowhere near twice as much.

Re: Changing reporting deadlines

Hi Didactylos,

Hope the work was useful. I liked your comment about hyper-threading. So, computer monitoring software act sometimes like humans, eh? :o)

I think it is time I built a new machine - I have a collection of 6,000 really old film slides of family (right back to 1943!) given to me this past month to scan in my spare(?) time and my 40GB hard drive is already full. So, perhaps it is time I built a Xeon system which may assist better with the WCG too. Perhaps that is a topic for a new thread.

Anyway, many thanks for the good advice and encouragement. I'll search out Lawrence's article you mentioned to read. Sounds interesting.

Mark
