Where do I find information about "server status"?
When something isn't working on my client I'd like to check whether the server is offline or out of work or something like that. Shouldn't there be a prominent link to that kind of information on the homepage? Forgive me If I am looking but not seeing, but perhaps that might hint that there is need to make the link more prominent. Regards, ..jim |

We don't provide that information.
If there is a problem, a message is posted to Known Issues. You can subscribe to the RSS feed, also. |

Several third party sites provide that information.
----------------------------------------http://boincprojectstatus.ath.cx/ And, the 78.23% rating presently there is hilarious. no one at all has been on the boards to report inaccessibility of the work distributors. If there is no work: This is signaled in the message log. That's why there is the "if there is no work for.... give me something else" option to keep clients busy.

Several third party sites provide that information. OK Sek, now that we know about the (lack of) credibility of this one, maybe you could provide links to one or two serious ones? Cheers. Jean. |

Their credibility was much higher on the % front, when they sampled more frequent, which they now do not.... The sample is from 50 minutes ago, where actual is noted from own test:
----------------------------------------Results as of 07/08/2008 08:14:15 GMT. Scheduler is up - correct All download servers are down. You will be unable to fetch work. - incorrect Upload handler is down. You may be unable to upload results. - incorrect Other sites give only a colour indicator like this: Point though of these sites is, that if you have a problem, you go there to check. You don't go there if you don't have a problem. I don't, but when the message log says there might be one.

Sekerob: I believe they are counting the times that WCG is down to update stats, roughly 1 1/2 hours at the noon [UTC] update and about 2 1/2 hours at the midnight one. Those are the only times I have ever noticed WCG not being up, running and fully functional. ![]() |

If they are, then they're doing it wrong - the WCG scheduler runs continuously through the stats update.
Scheduled downtime is usually for a couple of hours on Sunday. That's the normal maintenance window, anyway - it is only used occasionally. I can't remember when the last unscheduled downtime was. 6 hours in May, according to Known Issues. |

It's actually so that there are no more interruptions at all, not during back up, not during the Sunday maintenance, it's Truely 24/7. There was a post by knreed to confirm when asked, somewhere
----------------------------------------Ah yes, point 3 of the FAQ.... not having had back-off messages on sunday mornings for a long time. The Time out of the website on Sunday has also shortened. Last weekend it was just 30 minutes and once the UD parts gutting has completed, it will probably be even shorter. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2024
