Result Status Filtering [Resolved]

I'm trying to display results status using the following criteria:
Device Name:All, Result Status:In Progress, Project Name:FightAIDS@Home.
I get this message "The application is unavailable at this time, please try again later." "Your action has resulted in an error"
If this is just server load, I apologise.

Pete

This problem occurs at all times, not just during stats updates.

The end-of-day posting is in progress and the databases are unavailable. They will be available in about 45 minutes. Cheers!

Re: Result Status Filtering

Dataman,

I knew someone was going to say that, that's why I edited the post.
Could you try doing it after the update, it might(more than likely) be just me!

Sorry ... our posts passed in the night. smile I thought that was a strange question from someone with all those badges. biggrin Let us know if it is still happening after posting and it can be bumped up to a tech by a CA.

Re: Result Status Filtering

Pete, I think you'll see a different error during the stats update. Actually, you won't be able to even get into Results Status itself during that time. You'd have to be trying with a bookmark. Outside the stats update, I believe I've seen that error on an entirely different query - I'm pulling the Team's member detail for the entire team. Normally, it's right after the stats update finishes that it seems to happen so it could be load related. It may be a factor of the amount of data to retrieve from the database too, especially if you have lots of devices. As for the query itself, I do that sort of thing all the time (outside the stats update of course) with no problem. Is this intermittent for you or every time? Do you see the same thing filtering for individual devices? How many devices does all encompass? When it fails with that error, does it work if you retry?

Re: Result Status Filtering

keithhenry,

All, All, All filter gets 33 pages of results. I have 7 devices, 6 dual 1 quad.
I know that the "Result Status" page is inaccessible during the update, so it didn't need mentioning.
The problem has been intermittant for a few days, so I've been putting off posting. At the time of the post it was solid, but as I'm writing this post the problem seems to have cleared. It's like when you have a problem with your car, if you take it to the dealer, they can't reproduce it!
Thanks for your help.

Re: Result Status Filtering

But petehardy, we CA's will still mention things even if you know it, for other readers, less experienced, might learn a thing or to 2 from any present discussion.

Just for posterity, if you were logged in and at the RS pages prior to the real stats update you would get the "app not avialable" response.

Looking at the OP post time stamp, when logged in, WCG was just minutes into the actual lock out start for the nightlly update.

There is some post processing running even when My Grid + Global Stats pages are made accessible again (at least it seems to trundle along for a wee longer from where I sit).

knreed explained that accessing the RS pages is direct, real-time read-only accessing. If things in the scheduler are very busy, I'd imagine and occasionally do see some jerkyness.

When the host-centre transfer, new servers and db version upgrade and the amputation of the UD parts are complete we should see marked improvement on many fronts.

A number of functionality enhancements have been requested in public and back room to include the ability to get the whole RS page set in one fell swoop onto screen, for those who like to analyze it in a spreadsheet e.g.

a short summary

ciao

Re: Result Status Filtering

And again, it's stats time. :+)

Coincidence?

Yes, we would like better availability during stats updates. And now UD is gone, hopefully the techs will be able to improve this further.

Re: Result Status Filtering

I'm sorry but I'ts now 03.25 UTC and I can't even get "Resuts Status" to open. I just wanted to mention that this problem isn't "Resolved" (yet).

It's really only inconvenient not a huge problem.
