Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 28 smilesmile

So I've noticed that there's a pretty tight close for 1st and 2nd (marysduby and dataman), and then another really strong race between me and Blizzie for 3rd and 4th. Are there any other really close races?

Tight close for me and you? You're kidding. It clearly shows that I won by far.

Yeah yeah, have your fun for now, but remember, soon the quad gets proper cooling (I really need to reseat that V1). Oh, and I've been murdering you in points this week.

By the way, have you noticed that we both average about 12-14k points a day, but sometimes you or I will drop to about 8-9k and then skyrocket the next (sometimes to 20k plus)? What's causing this? I guess it could do with the PV jail getting backed up worse on some projects than others.

Indeed. My Quad is also getting weird work unit times.. Sometimes 5 hours. Sometime 12+ hours.

And you're pushing it buddy. wink We'll see by the end of this month.

Take a look at Known Issues. Kevin's posted in there about the long running FAAH jobs in the latest batch of WUs. Jonathan, BOINC uses the lowest priority so when you're machine's CPU is needed for just about anything else, BOINC pauses and waits for that. However, Blizzie sees different behavior. Blizzie, do you have your BOINC profile set to keep suspended work in memory? You may see BOINC impacting your games in that case as memory gets swapped out. It may just be a matter of switching that setting.....

Yes, there are lots of strange goings on in FAAH, HPF2 & DDDT right now. Big differences in run times, points and error/invalid wu's. I'm just running Rice and Beta's until things get back to normal.

BOINC 6.2.14 is still running fine. Easy conversion.

Cheers! coffee

Ok, FAAH was a one-off with some unexpectedly long WUs in the latest batch. DDDT is switching to quorum of 1. What's with HPF2? Sounds like HDC is quiet then.

Is DDDT switching to shorter runtime units as well?

Sorry, HPF2 errors have been with the beta's but that's why we do beta's. smile I've seen no problems with HDC. Rice is giving me more points/hour of run time.

My problem is back with the C2D. Something is using 45-48% of the processors. When I shut down BOINC the sum of the CPU usage in task manager/processes shows 4% yet CPU usage shows 48-51%. When I start BOINC one wu gets 50% and the other 2%. No virus/adware found. Nothing in the firewall log. UAC is on. Used TUT and can't see anything out of the ordinary. I had to reimage the machine last time to get rid of it. I can't beleive someting got though both the router and machine firewalls. devilish crying devilish I just set it to get no new tasks as it is not worth running on one lung. alien 2

Try changing default folder options to show all hidden and readonly folders? Maybe that will show something unexpected.....

Thanks ... all the machines are set to show everything. Too many folders/files to look at. Faster to reimage it. What bothers me is how it is getting through and why just that machine. confused I restored to original "as-built" two months ago everything was fine. It does not have much on it but the OS, Virus, speedfan and BOINC. It started happening 3 days ago. I put it on 6.2.14 just to see if maybe it was BOINC but it was not. confused devilish

I turned off the "Leave applications in memory while suspended" now. Lets see if it helps.
