Is there some place where I can find how to "tune" a custom profile for best results on a machine that is dedicated to WCG?
Thank you. |

I don't think we understand the question. Tuning is entirely dependent on your goals.
All projects have slightly different up and download sizes, and different memory footprints, and different work unit lengths. If you just want to make sure your profile is set to use all your computing resources, simply choose the "Maximum Output" option. |

". . . choose the "Maximum Output" option."
I did that. We'll see how it goes. I recently rebuilt one of my machines, and wondered if there was something else I could do to assure it does all it can. |

Deepends on the hardware:
----------------------------------------- Make sure that each concurrently running job has enough physical ram to not need frequent swapping out to disk. The Largest WCG jobs need about 350-400mb at times. AfricanClimate needed even more. See the System Project Matrix for indications: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17855 - OC but will not tell you how.... Risky business and burned enough ram strips to know that I'm dangerous with those tweaker parts of crunching. - Don't use the graphics, particular the screen saver. They eat cycles. just a few

Like any Windows Screen Saver, go to the Desktop Control Panel ( right click on the windows desktop background to get the menu), select the "Blank" with password, and be save at zero cycle use.

When I right click on the Windows desktop background, I don't see that option on the resulting menu.
When I start the Control Panel by double clicking on its icon, Blank doesn't appear on the resulting menu. |

Sekerob was a little ambiguous.
Desktop right-click->Properties->Screensaver tab. Alternatively, Control Panel->Display->Screensaver tab. I'd like to watch each one for a few minutes when a new version comes out You don't need the screensaver for this. Just view the graphics via BOINC Manager. |

Sekerob was a little ambiguous. Desktop right-click->Properties->Screensaver tab. Alternatively, Control Panel->Display->Screensaver tab. When I right-click on the desktop, I don't see Properties on the resulting menu. When I bring up the Control Panel, I don't see Display on the resulting menu. In case it makes a difference, I'm using the Classic View version of the Control Panel and don't remember how to switch it to any other view. However, I tried selecting Personalization on the Control Panel, then Screen Saver. This finally gave me the opportunity to select Blank, but no opportunity to control the cycles of use. |

Vista? Yes in that case it's Personalisation. The "Blank" screen saver does not use CPU cycles
