I do not get how worldwide less then 400 Thousand people are doing work that could save millions!? This is not a religious thing this is a science and philosophy thing! Will companies like Google or Microsoft not give free advertising for WCG to get more people on board. It seems to me in a world with billions of people and millions of computers WCG should have to be upgrading daily to keep up with the people helping. My GOD this is easier then giving blood or going to church/temple! There has to be a way to get more people involved. Are we allowed to use WCG icon's and pictures in MySpace/facebook to help get people? Come on WCG help us help you! |

Recruiting for World Community Grid is hard work, and takes a lot of commitment. The results are often disappointing. But that makes our successes all the more rewarding!
I recruit my team on the UserFriendly.Org site. The audience there is somewhere in the region of half a million, yet our team has just over 600 active members. And this is with constant advertising right on the home page! So, don't be discouraged if the uptake is less than you hoped. World Community Grid is a hard sell. You may use the graphics from the World Community Grid widget if you can't use the widget directly. For Facebook, you can join the World Community Grid cause: http://apps.facebook.com/causes/1060?m=25e57&recruiter_id=1885740 |

Are we allowed to use WCG icon's and pictures in MySpace/facebook to help get people? Come on WCG help us help you! Hello, Myspace has an audience of almost 242 million world wide and growing as of right now. I've had a WCG Logo banner on my page now almost since the beginning and it's generated over 15,000 views..of course, some of them might be redundant users and the actual audience could be decently lower. But, even if we assume the worst case scenario that only a very small fraction of a percent join and we have enough people advertising the numbers should add up 'exponentially.' That is looking at the positive/hopeful side of things for advertising on Myspace. Most people viewing My page fail to notice the WCG banner on it or ignore it...they only notice when I ask or tell them about it...it might be possible to get them to join if your on good, trustworthy terms. However, don't take, "I'll do it later" as them being interested! Here is my page with an unofficial WCG banner I got from a link on the message boards here long ago. http://www.myspace.com/rbolo28 I also purchased two large T-shirt for the WCG, one for myself and my ex-gf. I try to increase public awareness to such projects on the streets and in places of education, University hospitals,.etc. I have the link for the T-shirts on my site, unfortunately they are out of size large(the most common average people want). It's hard to know if such efforts are having an impact or not. As stated, earlier the WCG is almost always a hard sell with plenty of indifference and disinterest out there. But, like anything I would suppose 'persistance often pays off.' This is common trait amongst survivors in life along with adaption and evolution. The moral is not to give up. |
