Our team captain is not being recognized by WCG as the team captain.

He has sent an email for confirmation.

Our team captain is not being recognized by WCG as the team captain.

Remind him that if he wants to act as your team's captain he must sign in as "BOINCstats Willy" and not as "[BOINCstats] Willy"...

Willy has tried that. . . it seems that he signed up back in the 'UD' days and the brackets [] didn't migrate over to BOINC.

Is there a way he can get a new identity or password?

Captain activities on WCG My Grid and in team page are completely separate form BOINC.

He might want to do some renaming and transfer of captaincy so he can have both BOINC and the captaincy under the same name.... starting off with renaming [BOINCstats] Willy to e.g BOINCstats Willy2

If 'The' willy, he surely has the mental goods to do the flip flopping without having to create yet another ID. He needs to chose which one he wants to continue in carrying the BOINC points/credits forward. But, if the square Brackets has been disabled to sign into My Grid in the first place a mail to Contact Us is needed. Think though he can, it's just some characters were removed like the ~ when trying a rename.
