Hello
----------------------------------------Somehow my device profiles automatically changed that I am now crunching NRW, HPF2 and DDDT project instead of only HCC project for 1 device and only NRW project for the other. As I think no so long ago WCG had a problem with work distibution. And during that time (but after A@H and HCC project were back online) I've opt-in a check box that automaticly signed me into new projects. As I understand, WCG had to make some sort of project restart to allow work to be distibuted again. And this caused that other projects were added to my crunching list. I've noticed this device profile change only today. It's not so hard to change setting back, but maybe this opt-in option should know about existing projects and not check them in in case of any work distibution problems... Or maybe I'm wrong with my explanation - then, please, give me a clue of what happenned. Dmitrio ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dmitrio at Jul 8, 2008 9:03:20 AM] |

The order of changes that can be made effects devices either attached to a specific profile or all devices attached to any device profile.
----------------------------------------1. My Projects changes all and every device 2. Device manager, Device Profile. If you made a change in My Projects you get what you saw. Certainly, my profiles were unaffected or my work receipts, but with the "send me alternate work if my favorite has not available", I did get briefly different jobs. The second, separate and New Projects auto opt-in should have been blank for those that had less selected in their device profiles than all minus AC@H. It does not affect the Alternate Work sending. So, not sure if you made the change in 1 or 2 above.

The order of changes that can be made effects devices either attached to a specific profile or all devices attached to any device profile. Yes, I know that. And the thing is, that I didn't change active project list in any of it, but it did changed. And that's why I've written my post :). Certainly, my profiles were unaffected or my work receipts, but with the "send me alternate work if my favorite has not available", I did get briefly different jobs. Yes, and I have this option checked-in, so sometimes I do receive different project jobs. But it doesn't change my active project list. The second, separate and New Projects auto opt-in should have been blank for those that had less selected in their device profiles than all minus AC@H. It does not affect the Alternate Work sending. Yes, you're right. I had this option checked out. I I've checked it in during the time where work was not available because of some WCG failure. And nothing more. I don't know it if was the trigger, or not. But I've started receiving jobs from HRW, HPF2 and DDDT project constanly and when I've checked my device profile - I've found that these projects are selected to crunch instead of my old ones. With profiles having changed adding more active projects we may have indeed a bug lurking somewhere we'll need to pass on to the techs. Thing is, the box is just inert until the technicians run a script to check if someone wants a new project and add that at that time and the work interruption resumption should neither have kicked any script execution.
----------------------------------------Odd that the FAAH jobs are not coming through. So, we'll pass the message and maybe someone else comes to the board in the meantime who's positive too to not have changed any project selects. It should not have happened for sure.

Thanks, Sekerob. I hope it'll help. This was the only reason I've wrote my post.

Hi Dmitrio,
There were some scripts run on the project list a while back when some work was being done on the servers. My NRW project was de-selected so I had to select it again. There may have been other errors. As long as they do not actually stop a system from crunching, it probably would not be an obvious error. All I can suggest is to check your projects list occasionally (such as when a new project starts). Lawrence |
