Composing this first message for a new thread, I see the text "Post new thread" displayed twice; once as a heading at top left, and also below as the label on the hidden "Post your new message in a new thread" button.
When editing a post, it's a similar story. The middle button at the bottom for "Submit your edited post" is labelled "Edit a post". From memory, "Reply to the post", could also be improved by renaming the button something like "Submit your reply". I can work out what to do, but it must be confusing for members with limited English skills. Hope this helps ... |

One way or the other will this forum software be updated, one day, and if it is it could look something like the screenshots on this page with buttons that look like buttons.

Oh I know .... they are primarily pushing projects here, which must take priority. The forum update keeps getting deferred.
----------------------------------------It is starting to settle down from how we look at it here, but they always seem to be vetting something on the back end. Remember grid.org, which had a relatively new forum, and vaporware projects?

Thanks, Sekerob.
I see that the forum software is open source, so it should be easy to change button labels. I do understand that there are priorities, and probably a very long to-do list. Question 2: Does Sekerob ever sleep? |

I see that the forum software is open source, so it should be easy to change button labels. One of the main reasons why the forum software of WCG has gone behind the forum software provided by its writers is that WCG had to make a lot of specific changes made necessary by constraints due to the UD agent. Once you have put your finger in that gear you have to propagate your personal changes into any subsequent release of the original software, if ever possible. Even if it is still possible that takes as much effort as the original batch of changes and it quickly becomes completely unmanageable. That's why the current forum software is far below the current release of mvnForum. Once the constraints induced by the UD agent will have disappeared (soon) that will be easier to bring WCG's forum software at the current level of mvnForum, and hopefully stay synchronized with future upgrades. Cheers. Jean. |
