Make it easy for new team members

My name is Tim Fitzpatrick and I have been asked by Alicia Thornton, our WCG champion, if it is possible to add a link to our website that will enroll our members in the WCG for our team without walking them thru the process. Would like to script the user name and password and choose all default options. Not all our users are computer literate (yet, but we're trying to help them get better).
I'm sure it is doable but not at my current skill level.
Any pointers in the right direction or just a copy and paste script would be appreciated.

Re: Make it easy for new team members

Hello Tim!
Have you looked at the two links at the bottom of the stats page for your team , under the title "Promote Your Team"?
You can obviously copy them in your website if they are what you are looking for.
Otherwise please give us a few more details about what you would like to do.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Make it easy for new team members

Thanks for getting back to me Jean.
Yes we are aware of the web links you mentioned but that's not exactly what we're after.
From Alicia:
It is difficult to get across the idea that we (SeniorNet_La_Mirada) are a member of a team (SeniorNet). Even though we are just one member and all share the same username and password, we have a number of agents (or individual computers) and would like to add more. Yes, there is a link at the bottom of our team (SeniorNet) page on WCG. In fact, there are two: one for new members and one for existing WCG members. But we are trying to create a link for new people (or existing WCG members) to join SeniorNet_La_Mirada.

From me:
We would like our users to sit down at the PC they want to join the grid , go to a link on our website, and have that PC run a script without the user needing to input user name and password.

I hope this helps.
Tim

Re: Make it easy for new team members

Hi,

There is a "weak account key" feature in BOINC but when and how WCG will implement this is not known to me. Certainly if WCG runs on a computer then WCG wants the rightful owner to know and consent to the WCG's conditions over which it has no control if a click and go were implemented from outside this project's website.

cheers

Re: Make it easy for new team members

Thanks for the reply. Even though it's not the information I wanted to hear, it makes good sense.
Will shift back to plan "A". Helping the users sign up.
