I have been away from the World Community Grid for about six months due to computer problems.
Now that my new computer is hitched up, I have come back to the forums to see how all the projects have progressed and am a bit shocked at how much ruder people seem to be towards each other, with so many messages edited for intolerance. Does anyone have any ideas on why this has happened? I only participate in two other chatrooms but one of them developed severe problems with nastiness a few years back, which I hope doesn't happen to the World Community Grid. |

Sadly, Christine, a (tiny) minority of people only exist to make trouble. Equally sadly, even rational people respond when provoked.
However, reopening old wounds is never a good idea. From the rules "Please do not reignite inflammatory threads by creating new threads after existing threads on the same topic have been closed". So, rather than allow this thread to turn into an opportunity for anyone to renew old arguments, I'm going to ask that it be locked. |

Any poster who can not follow the existing rules of a thread is free to create a new thread with his/her own rules. Usually, however, they just stop posting for a while and come back later, as responsible posters. |
