Wet finger in the air: On an all project profile I'm getting like 1 in 20, 1 in 30. Probably that what is available is taken for the most by limited or exclusive project crunchers. The rest going into the All Project pot would thus be limited. AND, given you will have seen that a RICE BETA is underway, expect that thinness to continue until present residual problems are resolved.
----------------------------------------Considering all previous + 5 full projects and RICE taking about 1/5th yesterday of available CPU time, is what the WCG AIM is.

It may also clear up as people get their badge. As more and more people get the badge, they may switch back to more projects, freeing up WU's for this one to the masses who crunch all projects.
I was guilty of this for a few days. Since switching back to all projects, I've only gotten a few units. |

Hello tekennelly,
Just make sre that the website has All Projects marked. Then wait. I have never been sent a NRW work unit. Apoparently a lot of people switched to only NRW in order to pick up the badge. As more badges are handed out, I expect that we will get back to normal.Lawrence |

I haven't gotten an NRW wu since they updated the application. Is that feature working correctly?
----------------------------------------I'm only running NWR, FAH and African Climate, so I'd expect to get an NWR wu at least once in 3-4 days. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by mewbysea at Jun 22, 2008 12:09:36 PM] |

Hello mewbysea,
I just crunched my first NRW work unit yesterday. Apparently this is a situation caused by the new project badges. A lot of members set their Projects to only run the new project until they have a badge. Now that I have received a work unit, I expect you will also get one within a few weeks. Lawrence |

mewbysea, since you are new to WCG and Lawrence did not say it you must know that the techs at WCG "tune" the servers so that each project gets a fair share of participants' contribution.
----------------------------------------Therefore if there are many participants who dedicate their machine to a specific project as it was the case currently for the new "Rice" project (NRW) it is likely that the servers will not need to send any WU of this project to participants who are "multi-project". For NRW many of those participants running for the badge will probably become multi-project crunchers again or return to their preferred project after getting their Rice badge, and then you will begin to receive more and more Rice WUs. Cheers. Jean. |

Lawrence,
----------------------------------------Glad to hear the wu's are flowing. It just seemed odd to not get any when they'd been flowing steadily up to that point. Jean, Thanks for the information on how WGC "fair shares" for all participants. That's an interesting concept. Now I'll let you both get back to helping with the transition to BOINC. ![]() |

I was not getting an WU's for the last 2 days.
I kept getting messages:- 26/06/2008 20:26:54|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: To fetch work. Requesting 560382 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks 26/06/2008 20:26:59|World Community Grid|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks I noticed I had less free disk space that what was set up in the preferences (10 Gig). As soon as I "Empty Recycle Bin" it started to download 8 units. |
