My UD Agent is paused. It says: Receiving 2257 of 2257 bytes from the server... Agent paused, see www.wcgrid.org/cause.html
I have been running the UD Agent successfully for a while now. See my UD stats. I tried the FAQ Another reason for a paused agent, to no avail. Usually I run UD on the weekends and BOINC through the week. But I thought I'd run UD every night to help finish this last batch. I'm unable to download a HPF2 work unit for at least 8 hours. Nothing has changed since yesterday (when I sent in my last work unit)... no updates, no new programs, etc. I run both a complete virus and a malware/adware scan; both came up clean. So I'm wondering... have we finished the HPF2 on the UD Agent? FYI: • Processor: Intel Pentium 4 • CPU: 3.06GHz • OS: Windows XP, Home Edition, SP3 • Memory: 1022.79 MB physical, 2.41 GB virtual • Disk: 223.58 GB total, 95.96 GB free • Antivirus: Norton 2008 • Firewall: ZA 7.05.470.000 |

Per the techs the last batch was loaded about 48 hours ago for HPF2. Expected completion was i think 2-3 week so it might just be that what goes out are trickles.
----------------------------------------Try to add back FAAH and see if it fetches work. Just tried it and it did. If it does, it's because of the American "you bet yah". Now, switch 'it' off and hit the delete button. Are you going to write the eulogy.... something like "No tears over this lost friend"?

Thanks Sek,
I had to wait until BOINC reached a checkmark. I switched my Device Profile to FAAH. The Agent downloaded and started processing. I then switched my profile back to HPF2, and aborted the FAAH work unit. While trying to download a HPF2 work unit, I'm back at "agent paused". So now I know that it is not my machine's settings nor the agent. It seems to be HPF2 specific. So am I to gather that this is indeed a "trickle" effect? I'll try the UD Agent again tonight and see what happens. [off topic] I hadn't even thought about an eulogy... hmmmm, maybe... we'll see. [/off topic] |

Debs,
----------------------------------------think only 'repair' jobs like the one you aborted are going back in the trickle. My UD agent which I switched last night to "HPF2 only" went into pause and after adding back FAAH, it picked one up immediately upon hitting the okay button.... so i've changed the profile back. I noticed that the "only available on BOINC" comment in all profile has disappeared. Suggests e.g. that the total shut-down is imminent. Looking at just the BOINC points, this week broke all records as did WCG overall meaning that the efficiency increase is probably coming through. The points per hour average keeps going up and is now over 70 from about 45 when the migration program was announced. We don't crunch for the points of course but it is a measure of power. have a nice weekend.

Last night I left the Agent on for 2 hours. It sat 'paused'. I tried again this morning, and it still didn't download a HPF2 work unit.
So I went to my UD Agent's Device Profile and selected 'All Projects'. It immediately d/l a FAAH work unit. I guess I'll help finish out all the Agent batches, regardless of the project. By the way, how many different projects are still running on the Agent? [off topic] @ Scribe We already said good-bye to United Devices. Now it's time to say good-bye to the Agent. I do agree though, only the end was bad. Thanks to Rouse... grrrr! [/off topic] |
