I have tried to manually uninstall the UD agent after installing the BOINC agent as suggested in one of the forums. It does not uninstall even though I have tried to remove it, so I have both the UD agent and BOINC agent running at the same time. Please advise if there is any way to uninstall The UD agent. I have followed the instructions given by one of the contributors, and this is my first post on this site.

"Unable to remove" is kind of vague. Did you use the option in the BOINC installer to remove UD? Did you use Add/Remove Programs?
What happened? If it failed, what was the error message? |

1) Yes, I used the BOINC installer to remove the UD agent.
2) When I used Add/remove Programs, I was unable to remove the agent from there. 3)The error message displayed by Windows installer was <insert WC Grid Agent disk on a CD Rom> 4)The source box in the error message asked for <WC Grid Agent Disk1> 5) My OS is Windows XP SP3 with Firefox. Thanks for your reply. |

Okay. You can remove it manually, but that will leave some mess behind.
The UD installer is still available here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/bg/WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe Download and run it, and it should offer to uninstall it for you. A while since I tried this, so please let me know how it works out. |

Hello fred26,
----------------------------------------All you need to do is use Windows Explorer to search for your startup subdirectories. One of them will have the UD icon. Delete it, and you will never run UD again after rebooting. Then you can delete the UD directory to recover the disk space. Lawrence Added: Message from Uplinger: If someone is having trouble, they can just delete the C:\Program Files\WorldCommunityGrid\ folder when the UD agent is not running. meaning they exit from the task bar. This should leave only the screen saver in the win32 folder but it doesn't take up much space. Here's the UD agent...not sure how much longer it'll be on the site though. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/bg/WorldCommunityGridAgent.exe -U [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Jun 6, 2008 12:16:22 AM] |

This did not resolve the problem as a similar error message appeared (as described above i.e insert WCG disk into the drive)) when I tried to re-install UD agent. However, I managed to resolve the problem by deleting the WCG UD agent directory. All appears OK now. Thanks for your help.

Hi Lawrence,
I am now free of UD agent, as I deleted the folder as advised in your post. I expect that I will also stop receiving e-mails to the effect that I should transfer to the BOINC agent as both were running at the same time on my PC previously. Thanks for your help. |
