Points per Day

It appears the calculation used for the Points per Day calculates all the results returned by a member divided by the total number of results returned.
For people that have been on the WCG for awhile that doesn't really give an accurate count of their current points per day. Wouldn't it be better to limit the numbers averaged out like those from the last six months or year?

Re: Points per Day

This is more a Suggestion/Feedback forum topic. For BOINC specific visit any 3rd party like BOINCStats. Also your agent shows RAC (Recent Average credit) That is i think a 60 day sliding average.

Re: Points per Day

Hello BarneyBadass,
The first thing that pops into my mind is that different projects have different sizes of work units.

Re: Points per Day

I just can't sort out why there is such a large discrepancy... considering this particular engine runs 24/7 and doesn't do much else

notice the other interesting thing is the yyy.ddd.hh.mm.ss fields... they tend to hop around like a jumping bean... which makes no sense to me...

Re: Points per Day

Hello BarneyBadass,
All the time spent on a work unit is added to the total time for that day. But before the time and points were added, the work unit might have been hanging around for a week waiting for validation. Instead of worrying about the statistics, keep track of what is happening on the Results Status page and it will all make sense. The statistics keep track of validation on the server. There is only a statistical correlation ( biggrin ) with what is happening on your computer.
