I suppose that given enough cores, you could get the 14 days completed in 8 hours. It was the speediness of the validation that I found surprising. You still would have had to wait for the slowest cruncher in the quorum to complete before you got your credit. True........but you have to bear in mind all these NRW units take 8 hours regardless of machine speed - so in theory if all the others in the quorum crunched their unit uninterrupted and uploaded the result immediately then with enough cores it could be done in 8 hours and the badge gained at the next available midnight stats update. 14 days is 42 completed NRW units, and in my case as I had 48 cores crunching them it only took 8 hours to complete - but due to the initial error problems and validation process it still took 2 days to get them validated and the badge issued. |

I got mine also.
Now my focus is going to Beta work units to get the last missing badge. |

In my case I wait 5 days until validation process be finished with other mates and my badge be issued. I guess that is a mix of lucky (many crunchers with the same speed behavior to crunch the same class of work units at the sametime of you) and special focus on the project since the launch and for the first two weeks maybe less maybe more, of initial period of time that it is available to crunch (for example check box just NRW project during the time need to get the amount of WU's to have a badge issued, maybe a few more to be sure that anyone in invalid or error status do not stop or delay the process for more time...). You still would have had to wait for the slowest cruncher in the quorum to complete before you got your credit. As Adywebb and GIBA already explained, for this specific NRW project the slow crunchers are not the problem. It is those who run with very large extra work buffers and those who share their processor between WCG and other DC sites. Cheers. Jean (Rice-badged since May 17 ) |

whaaahhhh! I want my rice badge! ...but at the rate my craptop crunches, I'm still only about 45% there! (its taking an average of 12-14 wall-clock hours to crunch each "8 hour" job)
