Hello ARTATHK,
I don't know just what happened, but once a task aborts, it is gone. What OS are you running? What file did you put into the slot directory? Just how did you insert it? Lawrence |

Hello ARTATHK,
I know that BOINC is keeping track of directory sizes rather than just file sizes to make sure that it never writes more than the limits allow it to. This showed up when someone tried to run BOINC in a big directory with other programs. Apparently it is more finicky than I knew and considered the big jump in directory size while it was running to be a sign that something was going wrong, even though the size limit was not exceeded. The lesson seems to be - always allow BOINC to have its own directory structure and leave it alone. Lawrence |

The housekeeping of the slots\x content was considerably strengthened under 5.10 to ensure the/a slot is clean and pristine for the next job and any no longer required are removed. How to get a file back? There are file-undelete/recover utilities, but that often only works if system was immediate halted.
----------------------------------------The BOINC application software being planted into the general \Program Files\ dir had other consequences separately from the slot content and the member found out who did that. BOINC looks what's in it's structure being occupied and checks if the sums fall in/out the permission set in the preferences / device profile.
