Is this single or multicore CPU? Conditions are known where CPDN is instrumental in stopping work from other projects if the client computes that it needs to concentrate more time on CPDN (The long term debt & other factors). Try resetting WCG in the Projects tab and tell us more about your system by posting e.g. the first 30 lines of the start up log.

My BOINC client has been like this for a couple weeks now:
It just says "error, No work available to process" (I am participating in all projects) I have tried updating and resetting the project but the same error still occurs. Am I an idiot and there really isn't work available or is something wrong? 24.05.2008 11:21:48|World Community Grid|Message from server: (reached daily quota of 1 results) Apparently you've crunched only errors for a while, as your quota is 1. This means you are allowed to get 1 task per 24 hours. This number will only go back up when you return correctly crunched tasks. The amount of downloadable tasks will double with each correctly crunched and returned task. (1 - 2 - 4 - 8 - 16 - 32 etc.) So check your system, check your "My Grid", see what kind of problem your system has with WCG tasks, what errors it is producing. Tell us about it, we may be able to help you out.

Hi,
There's a bunch of these errors and they're all the same: <core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> CreateProcess() failed - Access is denied. (0x5) </message> ]]> I recently changed my firewall software, and I think if might have something to do with this. I have Comodo Firewall and I just tried to switch defense+ off, but that didn't help. boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe have been defined as trusted applications in the firewall so I don't get what the problem is. The firewall log also doesn't show that it would have been blocking BOINC. |

Problems have been reported with Comodo before.
----------------------------------------Do you have any choice in your software firewall? This thread has some more information: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=17439#142033 It seems you will have to explicitly allow each science application individually. This is the price you pay for a paranoid firewall. You will have to update it every single time WCG release a new application version or launch a new project. As far as I know, this is not a problem with the firewall, but a problem with permissions. BOINC is unable to start the science application.
----------------------------------------1. you installed BOINC as one person and are running it as another who has no read/write rights in the main BOINC directory or subdirectories. Make sure you installed BOINC as a shared user install if you want to use it among many accounts, having given all accounts permission to write exclusively to the BOINC directory and subdirectories. Or install as a service. 2. something else has locked the BOINC directory and subdirectories. Backup, Anti virus and anti spyware programs come to mind here. Exclude the full BOINC directory from active scans. 3. There was a third point, but I have forgotten about that one. Perhaps someone else knows. ![]() <core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> CreateProcess() failed - Access is denied. (0x5) </message> ]]>

Thanks to everyone for answers.
I got it running again today. I'm pretty sure it was Comodo that was blocking BOINC. (I must've chosen the wrong option some time, because Comodo is constantly asking the same questions). The annoying thing is that I've added the boinc.exe to my trusted files & boinc.exe is listed as a trusted application, but today the firewall had to ask if boinc.exe can execute something (again). In my opinion Comodo asks too many questions about boinc.exe. Why can't it just allow everything boinc.exe does. Seems to me like that would be the smart thing to do since I've manually added it to my trusted files. Guess there's no way around this and it will be asking these questions in the future. ![]() I'm running Avast antivirus and I added the BOINC directory to the excluded directories just to be sure. I doubt this had any effect though since I've had both BOINC and Avast running side-by-side for some time already. |
