Help,
In line with change over. I loaded Bonic onto my system and its running so slow now I can not use it. I try exiting the program and still everything is so slow Looking at windows XP task manager processes - SVChost is using approx 50% of CPU and System IDLE process is using about the same. I will have to uninstall the program, but would like to know how to fix this or what is wrong |

Here is a quote from a google search
----------------------------------------Svchost (and Svchost.exe) is a required Windows component that often shows up in errors caused by viruses. SVCHost shouldn't use 50% of the machine. I see some here with local service and network service and system on the XP machines but they all are sitting at 0%. It might be worth doing a virus check...update your virus checker first to get current parameters. Maybe you've got a zombie bot there beating away on your network. BOINC is running at 100% here with no problems on several desktop computers. (In this case, the idle doesn't run at all.)

I will run a virus check on the system thanks. I have other systems on the network no problem with them. What process name does boinc use. While I uninstalled some ofer software (game) from the computer at the time of loading boinc .. it all seems to have problem start after i loaded this program. I have boinc on another systemans its working ok .. runing the seti project, while the system with the problem is running rosetta and another

BOINC uses several processes. The BOINC-specific processes begin with "boinc", and the World Community Grid processes begin with "wcg". The WCG processes do all the work.
If everything is working properly, then the WCG processes will be using 100% of your CPU time (but at ultra-low priority, so your system will not be sluggish). |

hmm, very odd I do not see any process begining with bionic or wcg. I'm uninstalling the program to see if the problem goes away. If I can get the system to respond !!

You said you exited the program, so that is as expected.
Your problem is not caused by BOINC. Start by following retsof's advice. |
