Invalid Results & CPU Time

Hi Folks,

I did a search on the above topic but could not find an answer to my question. Sorry if I overlooked something.

In the event that an invalid result is returned, this reduces the number of allocated points for that WU. Does it, however, have any bearing on the CPU time used to arrive at that result? I ask because the award of project badges is based on CPU time. One WU for which I returned an invalid result took 41:23:18 to complete and this is an eighth of a project badge! I'd hate to lose any of my valuable CPU time as a result of returning an invalid result.

Incidentally, what are the main causes of invalid results? I run MemTest 86+ Extended Test (version 1.65) from time to time to ensure that my RAM is working reliably.

Re: Invalid Results & CPU Time

Hello jaypeecee,
Sekerob thinks that all time spent on a project counts for badges: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=18883#155111

I don't know what causes errors on computers. I avoid graphics and reboot periodically. (I drink caffeine drinks - maybe that helps. biggrin )
