The best low-cost computer to use with Boinc Client ?

Hi, I'm looking to help this project and I want to know what would be the best computer to use to help the project.

Can you show me the best computer configuration based on those criteria ?

It must run linux (saves on Windows price)
It must be energy efficient (a low power consumption)
It must be small (the space is a mather in my case)
It must be cheap (the price is also a mather because I plan on buying more than one)

This computer will run 24/24.

Do you have an idea of what would be the best computer to buy ?

Thank you

Hello ZeXr0,
Why not ask over on The DC Zone ( http://forum.thedczone.com/ ) in the Hardware section?

Re: The best low-cost computer to use with Boinc Client ?

I have a IBM Intellistation workstation with dual opterons 2.2 and tons of ram that I got off Ebay for about $300us, which mostly fits that bill. The newer processors use less power, but they are all going to throttled up when Boincing. Something used will likely give you the best bang for the buck. Maybe some off lease rack mount units would be just what your looking for.

What do you mean my cheap? Under $1000, $500, $300...

I have all Dells: 4 Dimension 9100s running XP, 1 Dell Dimension 5150 running Vista Ultimate, 1 Dell XPS 400 running XP, and a old Dell Latitude C640 running XP. I bought all of these off of ebay....not one was bought for over $400. Yes they all have legit licenses.
