Horst, what platform is this faah beta on? knreed wrote that the new version was launched for all platforms on Apr 22, thus not understanding.

Sorry, the word is often used for an OS family like Windows, Linux, Mac. One day I'd hope to see that added to the error message like " No work available for your Windows Computer". It would help support big time.

Can you go to the Result Status page and click on the Work Unit name. Are there 2 or more valid results? It's so strange to see a Windows Beta, that only lasted 2.29 hours, 3 days after FAAH 6.03 went into production.

Okay, no worries. I'll ask Viktors or knreed why / what this was. Maybe the techs were just retrying a job that previously failed in the first Beta or simply was reissued to complete the archives.

When we launch a beta we are looking at two things:

1) If the application is producing correct results when run on a variety of computers

2) If the application is running smoothly on the variety of computers contributing.

It takes longer for us to get results back and have them validated by the researchers for item #1 then it takes us to see if the application is running smoothly on item #2. If we set the initial replication for a beta test to 3 then we can get a lot of results back quicker so that we can get them back to the researchers to be reviewed. The third copy is still useful becuase it still is important for item #2.
