After Windows reinstall (and Boinc reinstall), the WCG create a new unit, even the workstation name is identical.
is it possible to regroup this multiples entrys to only one unit? As exemple, on this screenshot, same color (red, green, blue or yellow. No white/grey),= same physical workstation ![]() My profile indicates I have 24 units registered while I have really only 10 physical units. |

Unfortunately you are stuck with all the units. There is no current way to merge hosts at WCG. It has to do with the legacy of the United Devices agent. I believe they have it on the wish list for the future, but it is not a priority. There are some other threads which deal with this very question.

Petit up de ce topic après un an et demi, pour soumettre de nouveau mon idée consistant à pouvoir fusionner les machines suite à une réinstallation du système.
L'image initiale n'existe plus, elle montrait simplement ma liste de machines enregistrées. --- Small up this topic after a year and a half to resubmit my idea of being able to merge the machines after reinstalling the system. The original image is gone, it just showed my list of machines registered. ![]() |

Hello TBirdTheYuri,
I think that I have more information about this problem, though I might be garbling what I have been told. After the United Devices code was dropped from the server, the staff began looking into implementing the BOINC Account Manager, merging devices, etc. At this point they suddenly discovered - not a programming bug, rather, a slight architectural design flaw that introduced a security problem. This caused the server upgrade to BOINC code to be temporarily dropped from the schedule. So this will have to wait until there is a - sigh - rewrite of the BOINC server code. I may be wrong about the scope of the problem discovered. Only the staff (and David Anderson et al) have the true complete details. Lawrence |
