I just tried to upgrade to x.10.45 from x.x.30 and received an internal error during initial upgrade. I then tried the upgrade again via install, program maintenance, repair. After three repair tries seems I'm stuck in a loop with:
Install Completed Finish Install Error 2753. boincmgr.exe prior install directories have been deleted by install and not running boinc. So computations at a standstill on this notebook, amd x2 machine. please advise, thanks PaulT |

This is an odd error to get.
No, wait.... I think I see how this might occur. The error is happening right at the end, yes? Now the important part: does the installation roll back? |

Correct at the end after I click "Finish". The install does not take so my machine is left without boinc.

... after I click "Finish". The install does not take so my machine is left without boinc. no rollback to x.x.30 and the boinc directory is partially deleted so cannot get machine number and stats, machine is resting. I think my work done in x.x.30 may be lost but not sure/don't know. |

Okay, I need to know where you downloaded BOINC from, and exactly which setup options you are choosing.
The usual cause of this error (in my experience, anyway) is that the installer is trying to launch a program that wasn't actually installed. |

PTabolinsky, please will you assist me by trying the installation again, with logging enabled?
This is complicated, so I will step you through it. The actual installer is cached in C:\Windows\Downloaded Installations\{package-code}\boinc.msi Find the correct folder (it will be the most recent). Open a command prompt (Start->Run->type "cmd") Navigate to the folder with the installer file. Run this command: msiexec /i boinc.msi /l* msi.log |

Done: but I had done the harsh routine prior to viewing your last message. Then I had to leave for a while and the reason for the delay in reply. I did the uninstall, a registry clean, boinc directory removal, and reboot prior to returning and viewing your message.
Sorry, I believe you wanted to catch the error but doing the install with logging before performing the correcting harsh routine. I followed your instructions for creating the log file but everything got installed without a hitch and boinc x.x.45 is running OK now. well, want the log ?? PaulT |
