have been recieving this message for last12 hours duel core machine
two other machines single core have sent in results but failed to recieve further units all projects are ticked ?????

There's something strange with server version 601 and the profiles somehow not holding. Read a repair ticket and it said it was fixed, so presume it's not that, but for the exersize, go to BOINCmgr. If in the small Simple View, switch to Advanced View. Go to the Projects Tab, select WCG and hit Update in left margin. If that does not change anything, hit Reset Project in left margin (presume you have no work at all left... it will loose anything in progress!!!!!).

Yep, you got buggered prefs and what buggers it, we can guess (not you):

Please go to your Advanced View, Advanced Menu, Preferences and change the Disk space permission to 2GB.

What's wrong and needs solving (not by you) is this:

The next person that experiences this error - can you please post contents of your global_prefs.xml file? It is located in the BOINC installation directory (on Windows it is usually at C:\Program Files\BOINC)

I really need to check my machines more often.
I apparently tripped this also, starting on 3/15/2008:
My global_prefs.xml file hasn't changed since January, but I'll post it, or any of these others if desired.

Suspending & resuming the WCG project appeared to clear the problem.

I copied the Boinc directory before restarting the project in case something relevant changed.

The only possible diff delta of interest comparing new & old:
diff client_state.xml save/client_state.xml
< <nrpc_failures>0</nrpc_failures>
> <nrpc_failures>10</nrpc_failures>


Following is the latest directory listing for the Boinc directory, following by hopefully relevant boinc.log entries, starting with the last successful RU to be downloaded. I did notice that I received a 'new version available' message just before the headache started.

After this section, I will post the 'after suspend & resume' results.

oodles of data (better too much than too little) so had to sit down, but the important bit being in the last section:

You have a global_prefs_override.xml (like to see the content and that and global_prefs.xml) and you run 5.8.16, meaning the override file must have been manually created!

The hostname message suggests a network identification problem, but given that at the end you got work and start crunching, think the problem was (temporarily?) overcome.

You have a message suggesting upgrading to 5.10.45. WCG has asked to beta test the Windows version with WCG features. You might consider doing that for your Linux.

Now, don't know how densnaps is doing.... fell silent, so we're not learning if any progress was made from which the other members could gain (well it's over 24 hours he returned a result, so guess not).
