Dad passed on a week ago Saturday. Nothing was set up as far as his funeral and such and the bank froze his assets upon his death, so there was an added financial thing to get mom through. Of course, that's what sons are there for, so my brother and I got her through it all. We'll be there for her if she needs it, but we think we've gotten the funds released now. A paperwork error on their part was the culprit. The bank is such a cold, unfeeling machine. The timing was real special, too.

The funeral was real nice and the church that dad was a member of offered the family a site in its cemetary. We thought that was a nicer place than the commercial plots that mom and dad had, so we accepted.

The funeral director was from a local family owned business and his attention to detail was nothing short of incredible. The Air Force sent a crew from San Antonio to honor him with a 21 gun salute at the church's cemetary, too.

I miss dad, but I'm glad he's no longer in pain. That part was the hardest.
