Hi Brecht,
----------------------------------------Someone reported this yesterday and after the 3rd copy, the system was actually able to verify all 3 as valid (except for the 4th copy that was returned with error, not even reaching inconclusive or pending validation state). WCG is looking for extra validation at times in preparation of ending the quorum 2 and go to single WU distribution. The special verification algorithms work to make sure that most problems will be caught prior to doing that. Once this change is made, it could happen that a single unit goes inconclusive and only then a second copy will be send out. Should improve the project progress by near 100%. ciao Edit: Just see one myself on the Result Status page... we'll see, it took near 2 hour longer than normal for a new dddt job. dddt0401l0679_ 100314_ 2-- In Progress 03/10/2008 07:12:18 03/12/2008 16:48:18 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 dddt0401l0679_ 100314_ 0-- Inconclusive 03/05/2008 13:33:33 03/08/2008 14:19:11 8.03 68.1 / 0.0 dddt0401l0679_ 100314_ 1-- Inconclusive 03/05/2008 13:27:29 03/10/2008 06:48:01 6.03 92.2 / 0.0 < moi Edit 2. Sorry if I misinterpreted this post before; I thought that you were choosing some WUs randomly for extra validation, but now I realize that it is a property inherent in the WU itself. I think the basic idea behind this is sound, but I would cast my "vote" in favor of having both the enhanced validation and keeping the quorum at 2 for an extended time. Hi jonathan,
----------------------------------------If the error rates are insignificant, it will happen. As the database collects results, it becomes quite easy to filter out that needed 1, 2 ,3 extra validation copies. The example of 5 or more 'inconclusives' is likely pointing to a bug. Eventually the WU will be taken out of circulation for analysis. At any rate, the scientists and techs know what to do to not collect a database of gigo. The 1st Beta for single distribution was pre-advised here: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=19065#156320 --//--
