Re: Stalled/stuck DDDT work units running Linux

I also had a DDDT stall on Linux with 2 minutes to completion after 27 hours crunch time. Suspending and restarting the WU, restarting boinc did not get it to complete. I also had 3 DDDTs crash boinc on a Mac-Mini when nearing completion. I have turned DDDT off for my profile for now.

Same here. I even updated to the latest 64-bit version on Ubuntu-7.10. Other threads seem to be fine ...

Re: Stalled/stuck DDDT work units running Linux

Not sure if this counts as an update. On another thread there was a comment about the hang / abort occuring in the simple view of the boinc manager. I changed back to the full view and have run three DDDTs so far.

Re: Stalled/stuck DDDT work units running Linux

Add my Linux Ubuntu 7.10/5.10.28 box to the list here as well. I had two DDDT work units just sitting there for several hours before I noticed they weren't doing anything. Tried to suspend, restart them but no luck. Finially just aborted them, and I doubt that memory or disk space is an issue with mine, as I have 2 gigs of memory with a 160 gig H/D that basically runs BOINC and the OS only.

The two work units both had the error message in the results file...

freeglut ERROR: Function <glutTimerFunc> called without first calling 'glutInit'.

Re: Stalled/stuck DDDT work units running Linux

Time to move on to 5.10.45. It's been tested on Ubuntu by Berkeley.

Re: Stalled/stuck DDDT work units running Linux

My experience shows 5.10.45 does the same thing.

Although this may be true, I do hope that its not the decided upon solution to the reported problem already?

Re: Stalled/stuck DDDT work units running Linux

What is ideal for support is to have all who can to move to one version base, particular if pestered by elusive issues.

This hanging, predominantly reported on Mac has yet to be pinpointed and seems to hit all sciences, but seemingly now not HCC for the MAC platform. Reviewing the stderr.txt file in the job slot may show something more

This "freeglut ERROR: Function <glutTimerFunc> called without first calling 'glutInit'." is certainly very helpful to narrow it down. Found this on a number of BOINC projects related to versions 5.10.8, 5.10.21 and even 5.10.28.... 64 bit clients get a mention. The 64 bit clients do not gain anything and could as well run the 32 bit version as the sciences all are here of that make.... one comment from a project member & programmer elsewhere:
"Well, in short : It seems that the message you get is a workaround because they have not been able to fix the bug. Results should be unharmed.

&

Ananas is right, callings to glut timer functions are the job of the core client, in any case, this should not affect the calculations?!"

Don't use the simple view and avoid the graphics might make this issue stay away.
