How can I change the details of the device(s) I am running BOINC on?

I have been running BOINC on 2 devices, a desktop and a laptop, using the same username. We have disconnected our desktop and I continue to run the agent on my laptop. Although I can see projects running, my grid only shows results for the desktop. Is there something I need to do to see the results from my laptop and deleted the desktop details?

It has been quite a while since you sent a result (for this membername).

Perhaps the other computer was actully connected to another one.

Hello niecieden,
Select BOINC Manager - Projects then look in the Account column. That will tell you what member name you have registered your machine with.

confused Re: How can I change the details of the device(s) I am running BOINC on?

I'm sure you're right, that my laptop was connected to the desktop and which is why my work that is running on my laptop isn't being returned any more. I don't want to have to loose all my credits by starting over. Is there any way I can return results directly from my laptop as we don't have our desktop anymore and I don't know what to do. Any help most gratefully received! With thanks

Okay,

Open BOINC manager. If you get a graphical window with a Advanced View button bottom right, click that.

-In the Advanced view, click the Projects tab and select WCG.
-In the left margin click Detach button.

next

- Go to Tools Menu and select "Attach to Project"
- Find WCG in the Drop down box and select.
- Hit OK
- Enter the member name and password to which you want to send the results.

You should be done.

I'm sure you're right, that my laptop was connected to the desktop and which is why my work that is running on my laptop isn't being returned any more.

If you used Internet Connection Sharing in the past, have you set up your laptop to connect directly to the internet now?

It shouldn't be a problem having had to use ICS, or another form of networking through another computer. For BOINC your laptop should've been a separate host.
