she claims to be 120 years old and gives some credit to drinking a glass of olive oil every day:
----------------------------------------JERUSALEM (AP) — Mariam Amash, who recently applied for a new Israeli identity card, said she was born 120 years ago — a claim, if confirmed, that would make her the oldest person in the world... The listing was based on a birth certificate issued by Turkish authorities who ruled the region at the time... A granddaughter-in-law, Hamda Amash, 40, said Mariam is a "healthy, active woman. She walks each day and makes sure she drinks at least one glass of olive oil." http://ap.google.com/article/ALeqM5jTWCmWUVtw2vA5wPeUcDfYzK5HYAD8UQBMUO0 [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 5, 2008 11:06:12 AM] |

Why not and why would she care. But 111 is what I last saw an obituary for. Olive Extra Virgine, Doc, unfiltered really does it for me and most living around the Mediterranean. Opposed, the Americans need to have a very serious look at their diet.... last in Houston visited 'The Outback'.... piles of food, tasted okay, but what were the additives and growth hormones and gm modified corn in there? Length, particularly, and age is staying far behind Western European development. 'au naturelle' is still what rules here. The BK in the closest large town shut down twice, and is now a pizza shop again. A McD on the 1,000 year old square in Ravenna recently closed down (heard it from a friend).... blasphemous this horror on such an historic place.

Good on her, if it is true, imagine the changes she has seen in her lifetime!

do you believe this woman? Why not? She would not be the first one... Another serious article on the all-time record woman! 122 years and a half... |

last in Houston visited 'The Outback'.... piles of food, tasted okay *shudders* The Outback is awful; and yes the portions in most American chain restaurants are the size of a turkey platter and enough to feed 3 or more. A McD on the 1,000 year old square in Ravenna recently closed down (heard it from a friend).... blasphemous this horror on such an historic place. Agreed |

One thing some Americans could learn is "Moderation in all things" including food. I believe the quote is attributed to Aristotle, but correct me if I am wrong.

For example UK has a collection of "oldest pubs". And here we have the oldest inn in France (1345) , which was already an old building when Joan of Arch has been burnt in 1431, less than 100 meters away. |
